Interested in helping bringing a language back to life? Then Manx may be the language for you.
Manx was a language facing extinction when its last native speaker, Ned Maddrell, died in 1974. However, thanks to efforts to preserve the language, which included audio and written recordings, the language was able to be kept alive. Currently, on the Isle of Man (source of the Manx language, school aged children are receiving immersion education.
Sadly, due to the relatively small number of speakers, resources to learn the Manx language are not as plentiful as for most commonly known languages. However, do not let that stop you from trying. The upside is that all the resources I have come across so far cost nothing, which includes a neat app for your iPhone (also available in the Google Play store.
